I have been thinking lately how to increase to attendance at our club breakfasts on the first Saturday of each month. Mark Gershen came up with a simple, but great solution. Change the start times to 8:00 AM from 7:30. At the upcoming breakfast on 3/5, we will meet at our regular time, and then discuss making the change.
In case you are not aware of it, W5KUB, produces a ham video show at http://tmedlin.com/kiwi.htm. It is quite different from Ham Nation and yet very interesting. He regularly features Riley Hollingsworth (past FCC commissioner) who answers questions about enforcement, etc. He also has Joe Eisenberg, the kits editor from CQ magazine, showing the latest kits. They are live Tuesday evenings and archive old shows on You Tube. Definitely worth watching.
The theme of this month’s meeting will be Safety. We will have videos and discussions on RF Safety and Hazardous Materials.
The other night on the club net, Tim K6POI, who is now in the Thousand Oaks club invited our members to drive out his way on Thursday, May 19th, to join them. A lady ham who is an Apple software engineer is flying down to do a presentation. I am not sure of the topic at this time. It may be on grounding or solid state devices, but she has presented at ARRL conventions and has an excellent record of interesting presentations. We will discuss this at the meeting so I can call Tim and let him know how many are coming.
