Prez Sez December 2017

The club has been busy advancing our technology and membership. The DMR/analog repeater has been functional for a month or two now and I hope everyone has tried it out. I purchased a TYT MD-380 HT and am having fun on DMR. It comes along at the right time as propagation on HF has been poor lately as we are at the bottom of the solar cycle. Another advantage of DMR is that hams with a technician license can now talk worldwide! This radio was reviewed in the Nov. QST so you can read about it. Pet N6PET is programming the TYT radios at club meetings for those who purchase them. Thank you Pet.The repeater has been on loan from Arnold N6ASM and at the January meeting we will present and discuss the budget and vote on purchasing the repeater for permanent use. Arnold is offering us a great deal on the repeater and it opens up a great new facet of the hobby.

This month is our annual holiday party and auction. Please remember that you have to have your dues paid up in order to attend. This year if you haven’t paid yet, you can pay at the party, but starting next year all dues must be in by November. This makes it much easier for us to not only collect dues but to
budget. We also clarified the family membership category. In order to qualify for the family discount, all members must be living under the same roof.

The club will provide the turkey and ham, but as in the past we are asking members to bring a dessert, salad or side dish based on the first letter of the suffix of your call sign. See the full flyer below:
