Prez Sez December 2015

Happy Holidays! I hope by the time you read this you will be in the holiday mood for our upcoming Holiday Party on December 10, 2015. It will be in the First Baptist Church of La Crescenta again and we will start serving at 6:30. The club will supply the turkey and ham but, as is our tradition, we are asking the members to bring salads, side dishes and desserts. What you bring is determined by the first letter of the suffix of your call sign.

Everyone: bring a soft drink for yourself with enough to share. If your dues aren’t paid you must pay at the  door.

On another topic —-Recently on the 40m DNN net, we had a discussion after one of the participants mentioned he has a letter on grounding in the Dec issue of QST. We discussed what a great resource we have available in the people at QST / ARRL . In the past I have had several answers to my technical inquiries appear in the magazine. So if you are ever in doubt about a technical question, call/email them. They are there for us in many ways besides, spectrum protection and publications.

Have you discovered W5KUB yet? He is producing a new ham radio weekly video program at http://tmedlin.com/kiwi.htm. His show is different from HamNation but still very interesting. Every few programs his guest is Joe Eisenberg who writes the kit building column for CQ magazine. Joe features some of the latest kits (that sell for very affordable prices) One example of featured kits is a color LCD oscilloscope that sells for under $25 shipped! Riley Hollingsworth (ex FCC) is also a frequent guest.

That’s it for now. See you at the party 73 Mike KF6KXG
